
Shotgun Training
While most of our training is defensive in nature, our precision rifle 1 and shotgun 1 courses could be applied to hunting.

Shotgun 1
Shotgun 1 is an introductory course that teaches a student how to operate Hinge action shotguns (aka break action), slide action (aka pump), and semi-automatic shotguns.
Topics:
- Gear selection and set up
- Patterning at various distances
- Understanding different shot
- Slugs
- Clay targets
- Defensive use of a shotgun
- Tactical and speed reloads


Shotgun level 2
The SDE’s Practical shotgun is for students who take their self-defense very seriously and wish to continue their education on firearms.

Students will learn the following subjects:
- Concealment vs. cover
- Immediate action drills (how to clear a malfunctioned firearm)
- Rapid reload (tactical and static)
- Sustained fire drills
- Movement with a firearm
- Aftermath of a shooting
- Shooting out to 100 yards (Slug)
- Transitioning to a secondary

In the range, students will draw from concealment to engage targets. This realism based training may save your life or a loved one!
Prerequisite: Basic Handgun or shotgun 1

Shotgun level 3
The SDE’s defensive shotgun is for students who take their self-defense very seriously and wish to continue their education on firearms.

Students will learn the following subjects:
- Shooting on the move
- Shooting from the seated position
- Single hand manipulation (Drawing and malfunction clearing)
- Shooting from uncommon positions (Supline, Urban Prone, Etc.)
- Reactive targets
Prerequisite: NWSDE Shotgun Level 2
Shotgun level 4

We continue the progression from Level 3. We add the addition of:
- Communication as a team
- Moving targets
- Movement as a team
- CQB (Close Quarters Battle)
- Introduction to low light
Prerequisite: NWSDE Level 3 Shotgun
